Overview

This project included the installation of over 4,500 LF of 24” HDPE pipe by Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD). Crews connected sections of new 24” HDPE Water Main (WM) to existing 42”, 20”, and 12” WM for Collier County. Crews constructed above ground assembly, MOVs, and an electrical pad to connect the new 24” HDPE WM to the Collier County North Water Treatment Plant.

This project originated along the west side of Goodlette Frank Rd., proceeded under a large retention lake, and then moved north to travel under Immokalee Rd., a major roadway in Naples, FL. Due to the high volume of traffic, MOT was of utmost importance during this project and EV worked to maintain a robust safety plan. While open cut pipe installation was originally planned for the majority of the project, Earth View proposed the use of HDD as to not impede traffic and reduce the need for restoration. EV successfully changed over 90% of the pipe installation to Horizontal Directional Drills. This was extremely beneficial on the crossing of Goodlette Frank Rd. as directional drilling allowed the road to remain open to traffic without any detours or delays.

Drill Lengths Used

  • 360LF of 24” HDPE

  • 720LF of 24” HDPE

  • 645LF of 24” HDPE

  • 615LF of 24” HDPE

  • 551LF of 24” HDPE IQ – Pond Crossing; Subaqueous

  • 780LF of 24” HDPE IQ at Creekside Blvd

  • 829LF of 24” HDPE IQ at Immokalee Rd.

Due to the high volume of traffic, MOT was of utmost importance during this project and EV worked to maintain a robust safety plan.

EV was working alongside a lake and a major canal, where fracking out was of concern.

Earth View also utilized a compound curve in order to keep the location of pipe in the permanent easement. While doing this, EV was working alongside a lake and a major canal, where fracking out was of concern. However, our team was able to avoid this issue and successfully completed all drills.

Problems EV solved
