Project Overview

This project involved several single Horizontal Directional Drills including 2,500 LF, 2,400 LF, 1,687 LF, 1,815 LF, and 1,600 LF of 30” steel pipe for TECO Gas Company. The 1,600 LF pull crossed Highway 17/ CSX operated railroad. This drill required significant coordination with CSX Railroad since it is an active, high-speed passenger train and cargo rail.

Buoyancy control was used on every drill, and EV was requested to complete work for Troy Construction who was the prime contractor for Teco on the LNG expansion project. EV crossed several federally protected conservation areas, and the project required significant logistical management. EV was originally only awarded 3 drills but was asked to drill an additional two sections based on our ability to drill through challenging conditions of rock, sand, clay, and rock, being cognizant of existing utilities, and expediting the project schedule.

Individual Drill Lengths

  • 2,500 LF of 30” steel pipe

  • 2,400 LF of 30” steel pipe

  • 1,687LF of 30” steel pipe

  • 1,815 LF of 30” steel pipe

  • 1,600 LF of 30” steep pipe

This drill required significant coordination with CSX Railroad since it is an active, high speed passenger train and cargo rail.

EV successfully crossed several federally protected conservation areas with no interference with sensitive areas.

Problems EV solved

Trenchless construction

As a national leader in the trenchless drilling industry, Earth View tailored our approach to specific demands of this highly-trafficked roadway and completed the project accurately and efficiently.

Environmental sensitivity

Earth View used extreme diligence to ensure the nearby water habitats were not disturbed by construction.
